Intricate Perfection for Unilever Showcase

The Client
Unilever is a leading consumer goods company with over 400 branded products sold in 190+ countries, from long-established names like Lifebuoy, Sunlight, Dove and Pond’s to new innovations such as the Pureit affordable water purifier. The company’s Shelton, CT site is a hub for R&D, consumer testing and customer presentations.

The Challenge
The company set an aggressive timeline for completion of a large and highly complex project with many different architectural details. The project included working with aspects such as “Arakawa” cables, “Visplay” shelf systems, “Rustica” sliding barn door hardware and stone shaped wooden niches.

The DeCarle Solution
The DeCarle team worked collaboratively with the architectural firm, Gensler, to focus on potential issues and offer critical thinking about the products to be created. The team then arrived at the best solutions by discussing various engineering and fabrication scenarios. This attention to detail upfront helped everyone stay on schedule and also allowed other contractors to complete related work with ease and efficiency.

“DeCarle Cabinetry’s attention to detail and their ability to provide high-quality shop drawings and to work out how products will be built is amazing. Sometimes the designer doesn’t even know how their idea is going to be built, but Joe DeCarle and his team always figure it out,” says Carey Ouellette, Director of Construction, R.D. Scinto, Inc.

Result
DeCarle Cabinetry created all millwork / casework for Unilever’s new 50,000+ square foot office in the R.D. Scinto complex.

This project exceeded Unilever’s expectations, and was completed on time and under budget. “We’re dealing with four million square feet of building space so there’s a lot going on here, but DeCarle projects always come in on time. Their work is superior to anyone else we work with; they do a fabulous job.” says Ouellette.
