Prudential Café Offers a Stylish Respite for Employees

The Client
Prudential Financial, Inc. is one of the world’s largest financial services institutions. Prudential Annuities’ headquarters employs 800+ people in a modern office complex in Shelton, a community of more than 40,000 residents in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. DeCarle Cabinetry was to fabricate and install a radius banquette and laminated cabinetry for the Prudential Café. The project designs were created by CPG Architects in Stamford, CT.

The Challenge
The challenge was to fabricate a curved banquette with maple louvers above, with the same radius. The louver spacing required custom stainless steel standoffs perfectly positioned to align all 18 layers from bench to ceiling.

The DeCarle Solution
DeCarle designed and fabricated the radius components. The general contractor was given radius templates for the ceiling installation with all required blocking to assure sound structural connection for the louver assembly. The installation of the louvers consisted of a balancing act to assemble six, 18 layer sections of radius louvers approximately 4’ in length. Lengths of 5/8” threaded rod were used to secure all the parts together.

The project was a complete success and well received by Prudential and by R.D. Scinto. “We’ve worked with some bigger firms, in Manhattan and elsewhere, and the team at DeCarle Cabinetry is simply exceptional. They stand behind their work,” says Carey Ouellette, Director of Construction, R.D. Scinto.

As further evidence of Prudential’s satisfaction with this project, DeCarle Cabinetry subsequently performed numerous projects at the company’s headquarters in Shelton.
